Several factors affect the length of your bankruptcy in Canada. Your bankruptcy ends when you receive a discharge, the event that actually cancels the debts from which you are discharged.
Most bankrupts in Canada are
eligible for discharge after the minimum period of nine months. Your bankruptcy will last for more than nine months if your income increases, have fiscal debts of 200,000$ or more (MRQ or CRA), or have your discharge opposed.
AUTOMATIC DISCHARGE
After nine months of financial guidance and having successfully participated in the 2 consultation meetings, your bankruptcy trustee will issue you a certificate of discharge (assuming there is no opposition). Once discharged, you will be officially and legally released from your debts in question.
